An open truck is fine for bricks and bagged cement. But household goods, furniture, electronics, textiles and cartons need a closed body. Dust on the motorway, rain in the monsoon and a hot sun in June can damage goods carried in the open. A container for rent keeps everything covered and locked from your door to the delivery address.

How we load a 20 ft container for a house move
Loading a container well is a skill. Heavy, flat pieces such as wardrobes, beds and the fridge go in first, against the front wall. Sofas and tables come next, wrapped in stretch film. Cartons fill the gaps and go on top, with heavy cartons at the bottom and fragile cartons last. Mattresses go along the sides as padding. A well-loaded container does not shift on the road, so goods arrive the way they left.
When the container is not full
If your goods fill only half the container, you do not have to pay for the other half. Ask for a shared load: another family or trader going the same way uses the rest of the space and you split the fare. Your goods are loaded as one block and labelled with your name.
Container for rent for students and small families
Students moving between cities for university, and young families with a small flat, often think they need a full container. Usually they do not. A 17 ft container or a share of a 20 ft container is enough, and costs much less.
